RETURN TO THE AMALGAM AGE OF COMICS: THE MARVEL COMICS COLLECTION

Trade Paper Back collection that reprints the 6 One-Shot titles that were published under the Amalgam label by Marvel in June 1997. Six further titles published by DC were collected in a second collection ( see Return to the Amalgam Age of Comics: The DC Comics Collection).

Amalgam Comics was a publishing imprint shared by DC and Marvel, in which the two comic book publishers combined their characters into new ones - Batman and Wolverine became Dark Claw, for example.

On two separate occasions, Marvel and DC co-published titles from Amalgam Comics. The first Amalgam event took place near the end of the 1996 Marvel vs. DC crossover event. The first twelve Amalgam titles were released in one week in April, 1996. DC published half the comics in the event and Marvel the other half. A year later, there was another Amalgam event but without the crossover as background. Both DC and Marvel collected their issues into Trade Paper Back collections with the title "Return to the Amalgam Age of Comics".
