Annual #1 is part of the "Ghosts" crossover event that ran through the annuals of 1998 depicting various heroes fighting against or being "haunted" by figures who had died throughout their careers.
Annual #2 is part of the JLApe Annual crossover event of 1999. The apes of Gorilla City have declared open hostility on the rest of the world, using technology that can turn humanoids into apes. The JLA must deal with this and the resulting crises.
