Regular series that lasted 20 issues. The final two solicited issues, #21 and #22, were instead released digitally. Originally published under DC's Vertigo label but with #15 it was published under the DC Black Label.
An all-new corner has been added to Neil Gaiman’s Sandman Universe.
Welcome to the House of Dahomey, the houseboat of Erzulie Fréda, where the souls of Voodoo followers go when they sleep to beseech the flirtatious and tragic goddess to grant them their hearts’ desires and counsel them on their futures and fortunes.
To resurrect The Sandman, Neil Gaiman handpicked Si Spurrier (The Dreaming), Kat Howard (Books of Magic), Nalo Hopkinson (House of Whispers) and Dan Watters (Lucifer) to pen four books — about a disaster in the realm of dreams, a young British wizard, a Vodoun goddess and Satan himself — that would interconnect, interweave and affect each other’s plots. The writers focused on building a new interconnected era of Sandman stories under a new DC imprint, The Sandman Universe.
The masterplan kicks off with The Sandman Universe #1, an anthology issue that gives new fans a taste of each tale, and gets returning readers up to speed with the setting.
The series is reprinted in three Trade paperback collections:
House of Whispers: The Power Divided (#1-6)
House of Whispers: Ananse (#7-12)
House of Whispers: Watching the Watchers (#13-22)
