A comic with a great cult following and even its own dedicated web-site. Misty was a different kind of girls' comic featuring supernatural and even horror with a subtle hint of sexuality. There were parallel worlds, powers of telekinesis and often sad, unresolved endings. No issue was published for the 6th January 1979 owing to a publisher's strike.
The free gift Blue Fish Lucky Charm Bracelet is quite sought after and adds £30-50 to the value I would have thought. Misty lived on in her annuals from 1979-1986, 3 Holiday Specials from 1978-1980 and a The Best of Misty Monthly which ran for 8 issues from February to September 1986. Watch that the 1979 Special still has the Misty poster at the centrefold.
Stop Press! A nice copy of issue #1 (though hardly snow-white pages, looked yellowing to me) with Lucky Charm Bracelet sold on eBay UK for £255 (Jan 2008). How insane is that??! Jul 2010 on eBay UK issues #1-7 with free gift with #1 intact sold for £205.
Way back in Jun 2008 a copy of #1 advertised as “mint” with the free gift sold for £82. Just goes to show that a comic is only really worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. Another copy in high grade with free gift sold on eBay for £62.50 back inAug 2008. Graded as “extremely fine”. Another copy for £57 in Sep 2008.
Note: some PR issues may have no value. Selected issues in FN, VF or VF/NM may not exist in some titles.
