Partnered by Terrific which came out two months later, these titles brought the Marvel Silver Age universe to the UK, running in parallel with Pow which began in January with its Spiderman reprints. The free gift in issue #1 of a Fantastic Plastic Pennant is scarce and alone adds £30-£40 to the value with one superhero insert. Note that the Power Comics published that week had pennant inserts to cut out.
On the back of Fantastic #1 was Thor, X-Men and Iron Man. The pennant with inserts could add about £35-£50. A run of issues #1-89 (#1 very tatty) plus three annuals sold for £50 on eBay UK in Apr 2008. Generally speaking lower and mid grade copies do show up quite regularly on eBay UK but high grade copies are much scarcer, particularly as the staples can very often be rusty. A very attractive set in nice high grade. Took me over 30 years to build one!Watch out for Odhams1960s material in the near future - this is a very hot area of British comics' collecting, take my word for it! Wham, Pow, Smash, Fantastic and Terrific are all titles on the move.
Note: some PR issues may have no value. Selected issues in FN, VF or VF/NM may not exist in some titles.
