This was John Byrne's revamping of the Superman legend which at the time was sensational. Suddenly Superman was a bit more grown up and cool. He professed a liking for Italian food and a little wine occasionally and demonstrated a dry sense of humour. The series ran through the major events in his origin and life and also revamped his supporting cast into more dynamic, up to date incarnations- Lois was sassier, Lex Luthor more deadly.

The series is reprinted in The Man of Steel Trade paperback collection.

Worth getting the Trade paperback collection and settling down with a glass of milk and an apple for a good read....
