An unusual cross-over "event", resulting from the odd way in which Paramount licensed Star Trek in the early 1990s. They had given The Next Generation to DC but Deep Space 9 to Malibu. Thus, to do a story using both crews, two separate companies had to work together.
Parts 1 and 4 of the story were published by DC as issues 1 and 2 of the DC title, Star Trek: The Next Generation/Deep Space Nine. Parts 2 and 3 of the story were published by Malibu, again as issues 1 and 2 of their title, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine/The Next Generation.
