Trade paperback collection that reprints The New Mutants #99-100 and X-Force (1st Series) #1.
To commemorate Cable co-creator Rob Liefeld’s return to the character in 1999, Marvel compiled the final two issues of New Mutants and the first issue of X-Force into this affordable reprint edition. Here, the New Mutants leave Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, where they have pursued the X-Men’s dream of the peaceful coexistence of mutants and humans. They follow Cable, a mutant warrior from the future, and his more militant interpretation of the team’s goals. In the early 1990s, X-Force #1 along with Jim Lee’s X-Men (2nd Series) #1 and Todd McFarlane’s Spider-Man #1 broke sales records and established new criteria for “a hot comic.” This fed the fan-base that would allow these young artists to leave the titles that made their careers and form their own company — Image Comics.
