Increasingly collectable, specially the early issues for the Marvel Silver Age reprints and occasional unique British artwork cover (#4 for example).
The second of the Odhams trinity of Wham, Pow and Smash and the comic mostly heavily marketed on the back of Marvel Comics reprints from the early 1960s. The free gift Spider-matic Gun with Spider Ammunition is very attractive and would add £100-£125 quite easily to the value in near mint unused condition with all six 'bullets'. A VG/average issue #1 with gun but no bullets sold on eBay UK for £67.
An example of the gun on its own with staples in the trigger area and tape re-inforcing the top loading area sold for £52 on eBay UK in Jan 2008. Only ever seen one true Near Mint copy. Free gift Spider-Man iron-on transfer in issue #2 is sought after and could add £50-75 to the values. Free gift in issue #3 the Wee Willie Haggis Launcher could add £20-£30 to value.
Watch out for Odhams 1960s material in the coming year - this is a very hot area of British comics' collecting, take my word for it! Wham, Pow, Smash, Fantastic and Terrific are all titles on the move.
A very nice looking copy plus gift with the 6 Spidey bullets attached to the card fetched £250. Deservedly so!
Mar 2012 and a Near Mint Example of the gun fetched a staggering £349 and the six bullets all attached to together fetched £112. A combined £461!! Insane...or is it for these very high grade unused gifts. Well spotted by my eagle-eyed helper Mr. Eric Dent, thanks Eric.
Note: some PR issues may have no value. Selected issues in FN, VF or VF/NM may not exist in some titles.
