HUNDRED COMIC

Publishers: KG MURRAY
Dates: 1 1956-102 1965

There's a small but distinctive market for these Australian comics in the UK as well as collectors in Australia and New Zealand and there are some also from America who are confirmed completists!

Great reading value and very attractive packages. Hard to find in high grade generally. The series was called The Hundred Comic Monthly from #1 to #40, The Hundred Plus Comic (116 pages!) #41 up to #59 and The Hundred Comic #60 to #102. Pretty sure of that last detail though I only have up to #100.

Arriving at values for this title in the UK and the US is tricky as sales are few and far between and the collecting market I suspect is small outside Australia.

The contents came from DC titles like Showcase, Flash, Wonder Woman, The Brave and the Bold and Challengers of the Unknown.

I have collected a few copies of this title over the years, mostly fairly early ones in the number range from about #20 to #45. For mid grade Fines and Fine Pluses I was paying £30-£40 or so in the 1990s. I had a few higher grade copies and paid £40 even £50 for them. If I sold them now, I would expect to at least get twice that back. What would a #1 issue fetch? £200/$250 in VG at least I would have thought as it is so scarce. I have never seen a physical copy.

The very early issues of Hundred Comic Monthly are pretty tough to find and very rarely come up for sale in the UK. The few collectors that want them I am sure would pay well for them, in the hundred or hundreds of pounds/dollars to get them. A look through Australian eBay would probably shed light on current values.
