An exceptional comic for its time, printed in photogravure which gave it rich colours. The Eagle was Tabloid size so horizontal creases across the middle are common, completely flat copies are scarce. Volume 1 copies are more difficult to find but otherwise Eagles in general are fairly common comics. Last issues are more difficult. Only ever seen one Very Fine copy of issue #1. A signed by Frank Hampson VG copy of #1 (I recall) went for £219 at auction in Dec 1995, actually under estimate at the time. I bid for it but lost. In Malcolm Phillips' brilliant live auction in February 1999 I also recall a Fine grade Eagle #1 with the very rare Jeff Arnold Order Form. The item went for £286. Should have bought it!
Nov 2007 eBay UK sales: #1 (VG) £190 (but it had a professionally repaired spine and the newsagent s order form on page 15 was cut out a common fault), #2 (VG ) £82, #3 (VG ) £36. Jan 2008 eBay UK: #1 in Good with front and back covers separated and piece out of top left corner sold for £87. A #1 in about Fair/Good sold for £83.80 on eBay UK at the end of the same month. Another #1 sold for £83.57 in Mar 2009 with two thirds spine split and battered front cover (well described by top seller lindex). In Jun 2008 a run of Volume #1 issues #1-52 sold on eBay UK for £250, the first issue with a heavily taped spine. Another complete Volume 1 sold in Aug 2008 for £216. A lovely condition run of 46 issues from Vol 1 missing #1-4, 8 and 17 sold for £207 Sep 2008.
The second series re-launched Dan Dare and The Mekon on 27th March 1982, very common on eBay UK.
